Hump Day

Jaisalmer, Rajasthan, India
What a huge day today ended up being... We started early to try and beat the other tour buses..Jaisalmer is called the Golden city due to it being in the desert and all the buildings are made from Sandstone. We drove up to the Jaialmer Fort.. This is huge and dominates to town. It is also a UNESCO world heritage site, but it's in trouble because it's slowly falling down. Apparently one of the Palaces has already fallen down.. This is the only living Fort we have seen, It's fully inhabited and more people keep coming to live there, but the Government want the people to move out so they can preserve it... The people won't move because that's where the tourist dollar is.. So we were told not to buy anything from the people inside.
The whole Fort is filled with little alley ways and we got to see the people going about there everyday business, the women shopping and cleaning ..the men sitting about mostly..lol.
In Mediiaeval times the whole cities population lived inside the Fort. It was built in 1156 and added to over the years.. The several temples inside were Jain and date back to the 15 & 16 th centuries..
After the Fort we had lunch at a local restaurant and the food was great even included chips once again and the drinks were icy cold. We all had to leave a comment in their book. On leaving they gave us a snow dome keyring.. From lunch we went back to the hotel for a siesta break..
I was really tired but due to having a brother to share a room with I got to lie on my bed and listen to him snore his box off for 90 minutes..( insert angry face)..
After our rest we were back on the bus and off to the Sam Sand dunes for our Camel ride...Well I had never experienced a camel ride before and my bum is still humming from it.. At first I thought I was going to fly head first as it stood up but I managed to hold on.. We just walked a couple of klm to the sand dunes, at one stage we had Camels trotting past us and thankfully ours kept walking.. My Camel had black Dalmatian spots painted on him and his name was Michael Jackson, my drivers name was Ali.. When we reached the dunes we got off and tipped our drivers as per usual then settled in for another lousy sunset due to too many clouds. Vishel. Once again bought out the Indian Rum and some Coke so we were all plied with it, at one stage we ran out of rum so they sent a lad and his camel off galloping to the bus to get another, it was quite funny..Those lads ride the Camels like a horse.
By the time we got back on the bus everyone was quite Merry, some more than others..so it was a sing a long and joke telling ride home..It was a lot of fun.
