We were all saying our Hail Marys today...It was a driving day today with just a couple of stops..I opted for sitting up the back again and was very thankful for that...
First stop was at a small village who had built a shrine for a bloke who was killed in a Bike accident
..they have the bike encased in glass then set up high on a big platform made of bricks, they had a bicture of the bloke and then an eternal flame.. it was pretty unusual...
Next stop was morning tea..we were able to buy some more biscuits.. we have all mostly taken to their small packs of biscuits as they are quite tasty... the loos weren't too flash that's for sure..
Lunch today looked like it was at a convention centre, it was a modern building which was unusual considering the rest of the lunch stops we had been to.. Lunch wasn't so flash..the usual Indian crap..the Naan was good and they had beetroot so that was a high point.
After lunch we drove off and stopped not too long after..We saw a farmer and his well... At the top he had a Cow attached to a big pole and the cow walks around in a circle causing a wheel to turn and then a big chain with cans attached to it collects the water from the well.. You will have to see the photos to understand..
I forgot to mention we stopped at a massive Jain Temple... To go inside everything had to be covered, no water bottles no leather, no shoes no this no that
..we were then frisked and finally got inside and we couldn't go up to the main praying platform..then there was so called High Priests walking around dotting everyone then wanting 500 rupees for it.. thankfully I missed them and managed to avoid getting dotted. It was a huge Temple made of carved marble, with lots of different little prayer spots... But to me it's odd that they don't seem to have a service it's just random people coming at random times to just pray... I guess it's what ever floats their boats.
Of course Liberace and his wife were giving out lollies to the kids and she ended up running out and one of the kids started crying because he'd missed out... This couple are unbelievable.. Unfortunately they are Australian, I have been trying to convince the Poms they are Kiwis...
Anyway they splash money about like nobodies business and then they tell everyone how much they have handed out. They got into trouble a few nights back for paying R100 for a balloon worth R10 anyway a security guard told them off, saying the kids were not poor but professional beggars
.. Anyway today at the water well the took turn at jumping on the wooden pole while the cow walked around..! The whole bus was totally jacked off with them..
Back on the bus we went and started climbing up hill..through a mountain pass, OMG ! The driver was just going flat out and us in the back were getting thrown about as the road was really narrow and other cars and buses were coming the other way..How we got through without going over the edge Thankfully..but I am sure it was our Hail Marys that got us through...
Over the mountain we stopped at a small village that was making bricks.. It was pretty cool, the kids that came out were dirt poor, some with no pants and ripped shirts..and as usual Liberace & Mary Poppins were throwing their lollies and cash out and as usual there were some who missed out..
These kids were real ragamuffins, I did feel sorry for their lot in life...
Onwards we drove, arriving in Udaipur. Such beautiful countryside when there's hills about, the desert was getting quite boring. Our hotel is perched on the hilltop and has the most wonderful views from the rooftop bar.. We all went up to take sunset photos.. Our room is quite dated but it has a magnificent view of the lake and surrounds from a private balcony so we are all quite happy I think..
so I have just been to dinner and once again it was the same shite... as an extra they had made onion rings and for desert it was Jelabees and Creme Caramel which we seem to get most days.. The painful part is we passed a sign for McDonalds and a couple of Pizza place.. I am so yearning some meat....

You feel so sorry for the kids. I don't know how lollies would help them.

About time we heard about your fellow travellers. Liberace and Mary Poppins I love it!
Maybe you should suggest about the cleaning of teeth and the are contribution to a lifetime of tooth decay.

It's very sad to see the kids, distressing in fact, those poor mites don't ask to come into this world...and I agree, Lollies don't really help.. We have watched Liberace & Mary buy bags of fresh veggies and give it to the bloody cows.. Instead of the beggars..
