Heading to the ROCKIES

Maple Creek, Saskatchewan, Canada
The winds were so fierce that we 'slept' in. I couldn't imagine how Ed would be able to drive in the winds we were having over night. We fared sumptuously on English muffins with spam and Wisconsin cheese. We left with the winds somewhat calmed. We drove through the Canadian Badlands as we enter Alberta. We saw antelope! There is mining in the area. We do not know what they are looking for. We stopped in Medicine Hat, the gas city, for the world's largest TeePee, 20 stories high. It was part of the '88 Olympics and moved there.   There were prairie dogs around begging for food. I thought I was going to be attacked by the little critter.    I wondered what a prairie dog could do to me. As we drove away there was a skinny deer right by the road. The Badlands are sunny most of the days, not today. The winds have died down again. In the area of Hwy 1 there is Wheat County. The fields were brown like our dirt is. This area is so vast it is beyond description. We wondered how far we were actually seeing. Most of this is wheat fields. We tried to lunch in Calgary, but it is a very compact and we could not get into any places with this monstrous rig. We got so lost and the other drivers were not allowing Ed to change lanes or move at all. We decided there wasn't anything we wanted to see in Calgary anyway so the garmin took us out toward the Rockies. We found a place for gas $1.27 per liter. We looked up and there was the Olympic Village site. The ski jumps were unbelievably high. There was still snow around this area. We headed for Canmore. I squealed with delight at the first site of the Rockies with their snow caps. We saw deer along the way. We are stopping in Canmore, just before Banff to see the dinner show Oh Canada Eh? This was a good show and lots of food, but oh my was it pricey. Then they tell us the gratuity was NOT included. We ate many meals for what the gratuity was. But we are really FULL. We are at the Spring Creek Mountain Village RV Park. Nice but more expensive
than most . This is a totally resort area, just a little before the REAL resort areas.
We are still having email problems. I can't seem to add all the photos I would like so I am having to scale back.

Gee folks.........tonight we had fried chicken, catfish, cole slaw, corn on the cob, and biscuits............all on a white table cloth at the Clubhouse. Tasty Tuesday was a nice event. Oh Ed, did I mention a sundae with loads of fudge sauce? We are "camping out" in our horribly uncomfortable recliners this evening, and wanted to wish you well. Keep on truckin folks.
Cheers,

We had leftovers tonight...may eat with the Loudons next time! We get the fried chicken, etc., on Friday with the Celebrate Tennessee Friday social! Weather still cool here. I covered up with an afgan on the porch this afternoon while John worked on setting up a planter...trying to get our flowers out of rabbit range! There is a population explosion of rabbits as we speak! Keep traveling safely and keep the blog coming...we are really enjoying hearing from you.

Sounds exactly like the movie "RV" most of the time. Glad you guys are having so much "fun". Could be worse Ed, you could be dragging an empty 53' wagon in that wind, now wouldn't THAT be a blast!! Hope your trip through the Rockies goes well and the snow isn't a problem.
