May 19   Day 7   Whistler Campground, Jasper to Edmonton

It rained off and on as we left to Hwy 16 toward Hinton . We screamed out ELK when there was a sighting. Also saw magpie.   The crows are everywhere here. The water in the lakes is green from the limestone dust. We can't see much of the mountains due to the overcast sky. It looks like they have the pine borer here with lots of dead trees. We saw herd of farmed buffalo. We stop at Wally world for water and Safeway for grub. We lunched at Tim Horton, did I mention Tim Horton.   I got a caramel crunch donut which had caramel filling, chocolate frosting and heath topping.   Gassed up at Husky and got about 10 miles a gallon. WHEN was the last time you were glad to get 10 mpg? As we head to Edmonton, there is little wild life and a long drive. The birch trees are leafing out in a lime green color. Because of the holiday, Victoria Day, here on Monday we were worried that we wouldn't get a site tonight. We went straight to Glowing Embers Travel Center and RV Park. That name makes you want to stay here. There are a LOT of permanents here. Off we go to Edmonton Mall, the largest in North America. It has 800 stores, 100 restaurants, a full size ice rink, the largest indoor wave pool, an amusement park, a full size replica of the Santa Maria, theme streets areas, and theme park.   We were done in 2 hours. Didn't go in any stores except to enter the mall.   Susan did get to watch the sealion show. It did not seem like it was that big, only two floors.
Back to the park in evening traffic. It is 71 degrees and sunny. We had to peel off clothes all day. We have wifi, but not the speediest. With my old computer it isn't successful. I had two days to put in but after that I couldn't get todays in. I write then add when I can. I went outside to write, but the MOSQUITOES are ferocious.
Today to drove and shopped, but no sites to visit except the mall.
Still no lights in the bath and bedroom because the fuse Ed bought did not fix the problem!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!   ARGH!!!!!!!! I think we will buy a lamp when we get to a place that isn't so crowded.
STAY TUNED. The next few days are mostly driving. Hope we see some wild life, but not too close.

Our weather has finally warmed up here for which we are grateful.

We are enjoying traveling vicariously with you, so keep the blogs coming! You will be able to see LOTS of wildlife when you get back home...herds of rabbits are eating our flowers on a daily basis. We have issues.

Glad to hear you are still existing as a family unit. Ed, I was thinking you might want to track down an electrician in the next town you come to-------it has to be horrible not having lights in the bathroom. Did you take out flood insurance??? We are heading to the pool this afternoon for a little relaxation and will thinking about you-------kinda.
