Destruction Bay, Yukon, Canada
We are in Destruction Bay at a motel, no tell, with a few hookups with electric at the side. There is almost no parking.
We had a good enough night . Waking up to see the sun dappled on the mountains makes a days ride worth it.
We saw a grouse. This road has numerous mountains, and ranges in and out of view. The mirror lakes are really amazing. The landscape is not so much, just leafing out. Many trumpeter swans are on the wetlands. We stop at Pine Valley Lodge for some amazing french pastry in the middle of no where.
We have come to the 100 miles of road that in permafrost. There are heaves and buckles all along as well as gravel sections. It takes a lot of attention to follow the road conditions.
We are all ready to photo the White River, IT IS BROWN [appeared to be muddy].
We get out at Snug River, the sun is so warm. This place has the coldest temperature ever recorded in Canada -81!!!
We fill up at Fas Gas [not misspelled]. We lunch at Buck Shot Betty's where Susan found a SUPERMAN LICENSE PLATE.   SHE WAS SO HAPPY! The happiest she has been since Metropolis. Actually, she wants us to LIVE in an RV. She has it made, even more than home where there are a few things she has to do for herself .
We arrive at the US Border and are there maybe 5 minutes. We immediately loose one hour time change, BUT no more conversion charts for miles or gallons!!! The roads changed dramatically, though not for long. The permafrost is there too! The road is cut through SAND dunes in places. They say it blew up from the south???????
Here are a lot of black spruce trees. They are very small and spindly. A 2" diameter tree may be 100 years old.
We arrive in Tok, Alaska. Very nice, touristy town. It is a beautiful day and warm! We drive to Sourdough RV Park. Set under trees, with a fire pit, a shelter, a small restaurant, gift store, and     PLANNED ACTIVITIES. I GET IT NOW! This is what folks like about RVing. It is like a little community. We had our dinner [reindeer sausage and sourdough pancakes, roasted marshmallows and were entertained by JOHNNY AND JUNE CASH, or at least someone doing their music. The man was very good and had come up from Texas. I also got an Alaskan spa treatment here, wait til you see the picture! We met up with several folks we had seen along the way. We met a couple from Tenn. with their delightful grandson, about 11 years old. Now this must be why people keep doing the RV thing.
OF COURSE IT STARTED TO RAIN! It is very dry here, so they don't mind too much. Who knows what time it will be dark around here.
NOTE: the internet is so slow here that it will not   upload photos so will have to wait until such time and place that allows. Stay tuned!
PS: We couldn't get the draft to upload last night so here we try again. It rained most of the night, but that makes for good sleeping.

We think we stayed at that campground after we came across The Top on the World Highway. If that is the one, the had a place at the park where we could wash our rigs...everyone in the caravan lined up and everyone helped wash the rigs. It was fun...guess you had to be there!
