Final day of RV

Anchorage, Alaska, United States
Today we begin at the Golden Bear RV in Anchorage Alaska, where we were entertained last night by the Sourdough Biscuit Boys with Blue Grass Music. I was particularly fond of the song, "I met my sweetie in the Portapotty Line". Ed kept finding excuses to go back to the RV!
They were serving free hotdogs and hamburgers . Of course we had already eatin'. I gagged down half a footlong sausage dog anyway. I did not want to hurt their feeling and very few people showed up. I did give Susan the other half.   We head out early to Great Alaskan Holidays to return the RV. We are early, but there is no line so they quickly check us in. GOOD NEWS, GOOD NEWS because we returned the RV clean we are eligible to rent again next year!
We have observed that nearly ALL Alaskan own a plane or RV or both. We ride to the airport to pick up a car for the day. We drive down the Turn Again Arm. There are nothing but mud flats as we drive down because the tide is sooooo low. We go on to Alyeska [a sky resort town, the nearest to Anchorage] to eat at the Bake Shop. Home made bread and guess what, cinnamon rolls. The rolls are so huge we just HAD to try ONE more for the road. They have the most beautiful flowers later and their ferns were about a foot high. On the way back we see sheep way up on the mountain side from the water in the Arm . There are also MANY pairs of nesting gulls. We have never seen that. The tide appears to be coming in, but we did not see the Beluga whales.
On to the Courtyard where the air conditioning is like blowing up a balloon. It runs out too quickly. It has been on for hours and is pitiful!!!!!!!!!!!! Thank goodness if is only in the 70's. Our room faces the west and the sun will go down at midnight, I HOPE.
After NICE LONG SHOWERS we rest and then head to Gwennies, an Anchorage tradition, for dinner. It was one last chance to get reindeer sausage! We are directly across the street from Lake Hood the float plane landing and harbor. It may be a hot and noisy night few hours before we get up at 4:30 to catch a 7 oclock flight to Portland, Ore, then to Salt Lake City and on the Nashville. We should arrive at 9:30 tomorrow night. It will be a long day in which we will get back the four hours we have been getting along the way.
In total we drove 3950 miles in the RV, plus the miles from home to Minneapolis and the bus to Forest City, Iowa.
I plan one more entry with some of the observations and conclusions I have about this trip. I may add to it as things come to me, then again nothing may appear in my brain to share.
I hope you enjoyed the ride with us and that it was somewhat amusing. Actually it is hard work being a writer! Even Susan is asking about the BLOG.
