Anchorage, Alaska, United States
This trip is not for everyone. DUH. You must love to drive or ride. I did not drive this rig one foot!!!!
It is not a trip to do on a budget. We met several people who never stayed in a campground or ate out unless necessary. Some of the most fun is eating regional food and experiencing the people.
It should not be rushed. You must cover a lot of miles but not at great speed. Take a little time to see some sites.
NO ONE who has motion sickness should embark on this journey. There are lots of hills and valleys and ROUGH roads.
This is a truck and rides like one, BUT not as bad as I thought it would be. I had envisioned saddle sores. I did take a blow up pillow to cushion the seat.
I had no desire to travel through Canada before we planned this trip, BUT it was easy and we had no problems to speak of. English helps.
You will meet some interesting people doing the same trip. Few families, several folks with a grandchild. Some folks having rented for 8 trips [not all this long one.] Some old folks, several women, some on really long journeys, one for 2 and 1/2 months!
Showers in an RV are.....un-describable. Showers in campgrounds are not always doable either.      Lower your standards. I am not as picky as I once was about a little mold or about how often I shower. I never broke a sweat on the journey until today.
Weather is UNPREDICTABLE. Why do they still try. Some was better and some was worse.

To be continued.......

What a trip! We have enjoyed your journal along the way and think you're very brave. Betty, you'll be glad to get in your own shower and bed tonight! The party starts at 10 tonight at your house, so we can hear all about your adventure! So be all fresh and ready to party. Frank has your sunroom painted red like you ask him to do and the new furniture the neighbors all picked out is in place. Know you'll be glad to be home and welcome your new puppy waiting for you.

Rats...Frank let the cat out of the bag...or was it the dog? Since you already know the first part thanks to loose lips, Susan will be glad to know that the fire pit in your sunroom will be a beacon to all the neighbors (especially us since we can see it from here) that IT IS PARTY TIME! We found the humongous marshmallows that you wrote about earlier and will certainly have them ready for the first Coon Campground Party...Bluegrass musicians have already been put on notice that Ed REALLY likes that type of music. A CD of the performance will be an added bonus! We wish you good travels home...MISSED YOU!
