Flights home to Nashville then to Mt Juliet

Anchorage , Alaska, United States
I may be the only one to see this entry, but I want to finish up the trip home.
We spent a miserable hot noisy night at the hotel in Anchorage. All too soon the alarm sounded at 4:30. We dressed and went on the way to the airport by 5 am. The sun is coming up as a huge orange ball as we drive the 2 miles to the airport. There are not too many people and we have short lines. We head to Alaska Air for the first flight to Portland, Ore where we set our watches up one hour.   The flight is uneventful. We have to get all new boarding passes for the Delta flights. The next flight is from Portland to Salt Lake City. This city seems beautiful with snowcapped mountains rising up from the city. Here we set our watches ahead another hour.    Off we go to Nashville, where we sent the watches ahead the last hour. As we leave I think the next mountain I see will be Mount Juliet.
On the approach to Nashville, Susan looks at me and says it is dark. She has missed the dark. We were always awake in the light for last week or more. We arrive early and wait for our ride. It is 78 degrees, which feels really warm at 9:30 at night. We arrive home to lights and cookies and a welcome note. We soon fall into our own beds.
This has been an amazing journey of about 5000 miles and 17 days. It was not 'exciting', but it was interesting. It was long and tiring at times but such a 'different' experience.
Thanks to those who encouraged us along the way with notes.
There is no place like home.
