These shoes were made for walking

Amsterdam, Noord-Holland, Netherlands
Sunday, June 1Our last day, at sea. We have nothing pressing today but we stay busy. Susan won a raffle for a bracelet. She is a happy camper. The day starts so foggy, I would say pea soup. Is clears up later. Susan has written a short novel that I edit for space and content about her trip. She says "all good things come to an end. We saw a lot of churches. They were beautiful to look at. Some were saved from the nazis. Some saved their stuff and got it back after the war. Nazis destroyed everything in their path. This has been a wonderful adventure for me. I am so blessed to see these countries. I recommend this trip to everyone. I did a lot of shopping (only for t shirts). This has been a wonderful beginning to my 40th birthday. I have crossed this trip off my bucket list which is almost completed. I can not believe we have been gone so long. I am starting to feel my age."We are packing and going to get the last free cokes for Susan. After the "last supper" we say good bye to our excellent table mates and head back to finish packing. The bags that go to the pier have to be out before we go to bed and it is always a challenge to make sure you have what you need overnight and for the morning. Susan is watching DVDs as she does most of her time. The sun is high in the sky and shining right in our room as we head south in the North Sea. There are many oil rigs along the way. I have some observations to make. When we started planning this trip I had serious doubts about Susan's and my ability to do all the walking that I wanted us to do. We started walking everyday to prepare and it has paid off. Susan had very few problems with all this. We did have some moments, but nothing that we could not overcome. I have been really pleased with how she handled this physically. We have truly seen many wonders. Most of what we have seen has been of the man made kind. Usually we see natural wonders, but this is different. We have seen the excesses of man. The gold, jewels and art are mind boggling. We have taken what God provided and done so many things with the raw materials and talent he has provided. Not all of that is good. We have enjoyed Europe more than the Europeans. So many people on the ship do not speak English, at least they claim not to. These countries do not cater to English speakers. I am amazed that so many people are traveling on their own when almost nothing is written in English. So much braver and adventurous than I am.In Germany our tour guide made me so thankful that I had freedom growing up. My friends did not spy on me. The religion or lack there of was another interesting fact. One of the guides said that more young people are going to church, but it was not a family practice. I would do this trip again in a heartbeat. We were whisked by so many places and things that we could only see a few highlights. We are fortunate to be at this place in time. So many things could be said but I can not do justice to our experiences. I know that most people are not interested in what others are doing so I try to stay brief with my details. Yada, yada, yada..... Spell check really hated that.We are to arrive in Amsterdam at 6 am. We have reserved a cab with 4 others to the airport. It is expensive and not so easy to get there. This airport has a train station, bus station, a shopping mall and even a grocery in it. It is a destination in itself. Once we check in to the gate there is no food. I hope we get this right. Our flight is at 1:20 pm on KLM/delta. I am holding my breath on that one! We fly through Detroit to Nashville. Hopefully we will there around 6 pm. Since we are now 8 hours ahead this will be another long day. The mapping on travel pod would NOT let me put cruising or Baltic or North Sea. It HAD to have a destination to PIN. Maybe I will go back and add photos to the text that you already received when I get home. I should have one more entry so the map will get us back to Mt Juliet. Hopefully there will be NO airline stories of note!!!
