RVs R US

Winthrop, Washington, United States
RVs are Us44 degrees as we leave the Nugget. We finally remembered to pick up a thermometer so that we know this stuff! This was a great park except for the for the wifi. I had to sit on an outside bench next to the building to get the blog out. I returned to the RV never to get a signal out again. This a.m. I did get it for a few minutes before we left. Back on I 90 heading west we come to the most forested land of this trip. We are driving in the valley between the forests. We soon cross into Idaho and pacific time. This time of year brings out all the construction crews. Today is no different. On the way down a 6% grade for five miles Ed is driving in a concrete barriers single lane. Not fun. Luckily there is light traffic. The city of Coeur d'Alene is in a beautiful setting on a lake. Shortly there after we cross in to Washington. We stop at Fred Meyer for gas. We use the fuel points from Kroger! We head out on US 20 where the land opens up and we can see from horizon to horizon wheat and canola field. Some fields are lush and green and other are naked waiting to be planted. We drive for an hour or more seeing these wheat fields. We continue on to area that is south of the Coulee Dam. The tall power lines run from this dam. We are continuing through part of the cascade loop where cherries and apples are grown. Once again it can not be believed how much land is planted in orchards. This is partly co-op, but the Gerber growers and Chelan name is all over. This bring the migrate or seasonal workers. It is just amazing to see so much food produced. I just LOVE driving through crops! To me this is another highlight of the trip so far.We arrive at Pioneer RV park, Winthrop, Wa. early and have to level the RV for the first time. From the park we walk through the mining and farming museum to the steps that take us down to the western town. Very quaint shops and eateries fill the Main Street. Susan gets the shirt and back we go to the RV. It is 86 so on goes the air and off come some of the wintery clothes. Another highlight is the Tipi dinner we have reserved for our meal. The owner comes to pick us up and deliver up to a custom, 18 pole tipi in her back yard. This only holds 8 people max and we are her only guests tonight. We have salty, picked stuff and hummus to start. Then bison roast and mushroom gravy served farrow pilaf, grilled veggies, and a corn concoction with sweet potatoes. Very Delish. Dessert was a fruit crumble topped with home made granola and whipped cream. Our hostess, chef, owner was delightful. We met her husband, cat and horses as we left. Not many people can say that had a meal in a tipi. Back at the RV we are ready to crash...too much food and too much driving. We will not talk about the rear slide out that Ed is now afraid to slide out since it is not showing a default and the fuse had to be touched/held to operate. Therefore we are not able to walk around our bed or open the bathroom door all the way. We can only move through the hall one at a time. While inconvenient it is better that putting out the slide and not being able to get it back in....that is a game stopper! Too many miles to go to risk.

Today we drove 325 miles .

Sorry about the slide problems but we are envious of your travel through those big vistas. LOVE it when you can see forever under those big, big skies! The meal in the tipi is something we have never done, and your hosts sound delightful. We wish you a wonderful travel day and we are anxiously awaiting your next installment!

Apples and cherries - pies and cobblers. You encourage me to think of things I don't need but really enjoy. Neat tipi experience. As the song says, "give me land, lots of land under starry skies above. Don't fence me in." Nice pics.

Pictures are gorgeous! We surely are blessed to live in such a beautiful country. Had no idea tipis were still in use. So glad you got to experience that. :)

The tipi experience seems awesome and looks delicious. Susan, you look great in the pink color shirt; the pic of you and the horses, I love that color on you and your pretty smile. I never thought of the orchards or fields so big. Can't wait to see next blog.
