This morning we are leaving on the Washington State Ferry. This is a very popular trip for walk ons and commercial vehicles. We had reservations but we had to be staged. A guy at the park told Ed to arrive early so that he could get a front row seat and be able to see from the RV window. So we get up super early. They stage how ever they wanted no matter the arrival time! Susan and I went back to bed until time to leave, which was delayed due to fog.The views were nice as we sailed through the San Juan islands. We did not see any marine life, but the fog burned off as we arrived in Sydney, BC. When we departed the ferry we entered Canadian customs. The agent asked us a standard list of questions, mostly when we last in Canada, how long we were staying, why we were there. Next the food questions, What fruits and veggies we had. As I was answering, he asked about apples. When no was the answer we were wished a good day. We drove down to Fort Victoria RV park, near Victoria the city. This is largest permanent resident park we have visited. It is an "official" site with the RR tracks and fire station right beside the park. Walmart is not in sight though. The ice cream man makes his round through here. Next We are told how and where to catch the city bus to the downtown water front area. We Found the bus stop with help from another couple. There was No markings, announcements, numbers or any way to distinguish your departure stop. Luckily Ed almost on purpose got off at the correct stop. It was a few blocks more to the waterfront. It is exactly like the postcard! Very beautiful. The crowds were light, mostly locals going about there business. It is a young city with lots of bicycles. We took a water taxi to the Fishermans Wharf. On the small water craft I notice two Arab looking and speaking men with backpacks. When they got out their cell phones, my life flashed before my eyes. Obviously, I was just profiling them since we lived to tell the story. At the wharf there are floating homes and businesses. We succumbed to the call of fried fish, salmon, and oysters. We did ask for no salt on the fries so I think we were ok! On the way back to the unremarkable bus stop we stopped for gelato! Yum! Ed studied the landmarks to know when to get off the bus, other wise I guess we would still be riding the #14. Back at the fort the remaining spaces have RVs in them.
Victoria is a much larger city than I had imagined, very crowed with homes and people
. It was a warm sunny day with a cool breeze. I found the rather small crowds overwhelming after all these days on the roads with the only crowds at the groceries. Funny how you notice these things. The wifi signal is spotty so I may not be able to this out until tomorrow.
We drove about 187 miles yesterday and 50 today. Our phones were on roaming so they are off. Tomorrow we drive up island to get to the once a week ferry from Port Hardy to Prince Rupert leaving on Saturday. We will overnight on that ferry. We do not know what kind of signal we will have at any given point. Stay tuned...
having a lot of problems with upload of photos .....I give up for now in hopes of publishing the daily.

Again, beautiful pics. Who is that model sitting at the table? You mentioned two of my favorite things - ice cream and gelato - bellamatisimo! Enjoy the ride. While on the ferry, at least Ed doesn't have to drive, unless they have him rowing.

Now we are jealous...we really need to head out on a trip SOMEWHERE!!! We are in Columbia, SC for a grandson's wedding tomorrow. Good family time. We were on Vancouver Island 40+ years ago and I would love to go back. Keep being safe and having fun! Hugs!

Great pictures!! Looks like your "travel coordinator" working hard at the table. Wish we were on the ferry with you guys, looks like fun. Your picture of the floating house is really cool, I could imagine living like that. I can almost smell the flowers, they're really pretty. Bet you're glad to not have to wrangle the slide for a couple of nights. GAH should comp you for at least half of this trip for your inconvenience. Anyway, enjoy the rest of your maritime adventure. Be safe and have fun. Tim Horton is near!!

I forgot to ask, when do you think you will get to Anchorage? Looking at the map you have about 1500 miles to go after getting to Prince Rupert and it looks like some beautiful country. About 600+/- from Prince Rupert to the Al-Can. Hope it's as pretty as it looks on Google Maps, lol.....
