Day Trip to Himeji

Himeji, Kinki, Japan
Ate breakfast at Starbucks located in the shopping centre beneath the train station and then picked up our day packs and caught the Shinkansen to Himeji.
We walked up the main street of Himeji to the impressive Himeji Castle. Paid for entry to the castle and went on a tour of the grounds and the castle buildings themselves.
Had to wear some lovely slippers for the tour of the castle buildings. The tour itself was quite good with rooms done up to look as they may have back when the castle was occupied as well as various displays of Japanese armour and weaponry from that era.
The castle also gave great views over the castle grounds, Himeji city and surrounds. After a few hours we left the castle and went in search of lunch.
Bought some sandwiches from a convenience store on the way back to the train station. Light snow began to fall as we waiting for the next Shinkansen back to Kyoto.
