Arriving in Singapore

Singapore, Singapore
After a good flight we arrived on time into Singapore, passed through immigration and collected our bags.
Airport was really quiet which meant there were no queues to hold us up at all. We walked down to the MRT station to catch the train into the city as our hotel was directly above the City Hall station.
The office selling the EZ-Link cards was closed so we bought a ticket for the trip into the city and caught the train to Tanah Merah station to change to the East-West line and continue on to City Hall.
Arriving at City Hall we followed the signs to our hotel, Swissotel The Stamford, until we reach the Raffles City Shopping Centre where the signs stopped. We could see the hotel (it is the tallest building in Singapore!) but not how to get there. We asked at a shop and they pointed us in the direction. We took 5 steps around a corner and another sign pointing us to the hotel was there.
Checked into the hotel without any issues and went to our room overlooking Marina Bay on the 31st floor. The room was huge by Asian standards but as is usually the case in Asia, the bed was rock hard. Our room had a small balcony with views across Marina Bay to the Singapore Flyer and Esplanade Theatres on the Bay as well as views over the Colonial District to the CBD. Amazing views!
After settling in we went in search of dinner. We ended up eating at the Thai Express restaurant in Raffles City Shopping Centre. The queues for the restaurants were quite long but they moved fairly quickly and it didn't take long to get a table and some food. Price was not bad but as we were to discover later, there were much cheaper eats to be had in Singapore.
We returned to the hotel and took in the views from the balcony before getting some sleep.
