Phi Phi Islands

Koh Phi Phi Don, Thailand
Oddly enough, despite crashing at 2am, we were awake & up at 7 this morning, so we decided to take the morning ferry out to Phi Phi islands - the start of our Andaman Island Hopping adventure...

Grabbed a taxi from right outside our hotel (Holiday Plaza Hotel, 300 baht for clean, cold water, towels, soap, toilet paper, fan - and a room at 1am, super!), down to the pier and jumped on the 8:30 boat to Phi Phi Islands .

I'd heard that the islands were really beautiful, with great scenery, snorkelling and diving. Kristina was here 10 years or so ago and thought that there were way too many people there then, and it was overpriced for what it was, so she wasn't too keen, but hey.

Turns out that everyone was right. It is really gorgeous here, sheer cliffs climbing straight up out of the sea, huge amounts of reef fish & corals just under the surface, thousands of swedish tourists (not to mention the rest of them), 900 baht for fan, cold water, towels, no soap, no toilet paper (R.S. Guesthouse, and it's one of the cheap ones).

We decided to just stay long enough to do a snorkel tour before heading on to Koh Lanta, which was an undiscovered paradise 10 years ago - be interesting to see how it is now.

We were planning on doing a tour tomorrow, but it turned out that there was an afternoon tour, with sunset dinner included (Legacy Sunset Tour for 500 Baht each), so we grabbed that and a ferry ticket to Koh Lanta for the morning (300 Baht each @ 11:30) .

The snorkel tour was fantastic. One of the best that I've ever been on to be honest. They supply all the gear, and they have 10 kayaks on board, so if you're not all that keen on snorkelling then you can stay above the water. There were loads of fish & the nature is just awesome. Swam through a break in the rocks to walk over to the beach where "The Beach" was filmed and snorkel a bit more. Then it was back on board for dinner (warm filled rolls) and a super sunset before slowly heading home watching the video that one of the guys had made during the trip. Super idea that!

Ended up the day relaxing in a beach side restaurant over a nice cold beer. Ahh...
