Krabi, Thailand
Boat trip from Koh Jum was uneventful (300 baht each), with it arriving at a new pier a bit outside Krabi town. The best beaches in the area are a bit out of town (Ao Nang & Railey beaches), and we hadn't organised anywhere to stay (just for a change), but we'd heard that it was pretty full. So we had a chat to our friendly Chao Koh Travel company (same company we used on Phi Phi Don, and warmly recommended). They sorted us out a place to stay in Ao Nang (Cashew Nut Bungalows - 800 baht with a/c, warm water, towels, sheets, toilet paper, soap for the first night and 400 baht in a smaller room with fan, cold water, towels, sheets, toilet paper, soap for the other two nights) and a taxi there (standard price 350 baht) which took 40 minutes or so.

Our bungalow place was a bit out of 'town' which suited us just fine - 30 minutes walk is plenty close enough to be away from noisy bars etc ... 'Our' beach was about 100m from the bungalow, and seemed fairly deserted to be honest. The beach wasn't that great and at low tide it's a long walk to the water, but hey

I went diving with Kon-Tiki Divers just out to the local islands near to Ao Nang. Both dives were pretty cool. Saw loads of new things and some old friends - clown fish, nudibranches, titan trigger fish, pipe fish, sea horses, a scorpion fish, lion fish, puffer fish. Plus the second dive was at an island which is undercut in a big way, so I had my first big swim through experience. The entry way is really big, and it's not that long (you can see right through), but it was still cool to be swimming around and have the light die off because you're inside an island :)

Kristina spent that day relaxing on the beach and having a massage. Nice.

We discovered that our cooking school from Chiang Mai (Smart Cook) has a branch in Krabi as well, with a whole heap of fish & seafood on the menu, so we spent our last afternoon down here learning more about Thai cooking. Prawns in Tamarind sauce & Yam Ngua (beef salad) were two absolute favorites, which we'll definitely be making when we come home. Mmm.... Thai food.

Tomorrow we're heading back up to Bangkok for the last few days of our trip. Neither of us are home sick or have any real desire to go home really, but such is life. It'll be nice to meet up with the folks back home though (always pays to have something positive to look forward to :)).
