Time to go home...

Bangkok, Thailand
Finally the day has arrived. Tonight we fly back home to snowy Stockholm after 2 and a half months of glorious travel.

We've spent the last few days hanging around in Bangkok . We stayed at the same place as last time (Rambuttri Village Inn - 800 Baht, warm water, a/c, all the mod cons (even TV), plus a pool), since it was convenient to Khao San Rd etc... and had rooms available. Lots of shopping - Kristina grabbed a new backpack for 1200 baht (including a free smaller backpack), plus clothes, the odd CD or two and so on. Recommend MBK shopping centre as a good place to start. Their prices are really reasonable and you can often bargain them down a bit - not like the street markets (especially the night market), where the prices start really high, but you can bargain them down quite a ways.

Last night we took the boat down river to The Dome. It's a relatively new building where they have an open air restaurant up on the 64th floor. Unfortunately, we hadn't booked, so we couldn't eat up there, but we did get to take a drink at the Sky Bar. Cocktails at 200m - nice. Pretty expensive though - prices roughly the same as back home. Shocking!

Anyway, in a few short hours we'll be heading out to the great mistake that is Suvarnabuhmi Airport . We've had a fantastic time these last few months, really hard to say what has been the 'best' or the 'worst'. Diving is fantastic and I'll probably even try to get in some dives back home (despite the chilly water). Angkor Wat was just awesome. Kampong Cham is a hole that we'll never go back to (probably). Next time I take a fast boat I'll definitely have ear plugs in. Laos is full of amazing nature and superb waterfalls. Tubing in Vang Vieng was way cool. Chilling out in Luang Prabang was a great way to wind up our Laos part of the trip (including the relaxing 2 days on the river afterwards). Thai cooking school was fun, and suprisingly easy. Taking the dive course on Koh Tao was more than likely one of those life changing experiences that people talk about. Popping into Burma on a visa run was an experience that won't be forgotten but will more than likely be repeated at some stage. Wandering around the streets of Phuket town at 1am looking for a place to stay is hopefully an experience that won't be repeated. Island hopping in the Andaman Sea was a fantastic way to wind up a long, hard journey.

So long, and thanks for all the fish as they say.
