A pesar del cielo gris, tenia que quedar en Lima

Lima, Peru
Although it is the capital city of Perú, Lima is definitely not one of its highlights/celebrated cities on the tourist circuit. For this reason I just made a passing visit as I figured I couldn't really come to Perú and not stop in Lima. When I arrived and the skies were as greyer than any I ever saw in London, I decided a quick stop was definitely the way forward.

Having stuck with my usual method of not bothering to book any accommodation in advance I arrived to The Point hostel only to be disappointed as there was no room available… maybe I should rethink my planning strategies? After hunting around the area for a while I found a place that had had space for me and settled myself in

In this hostel I met a guy called Richard who is from Lima but is currently looking for a new apartment, and is a man whose first question to me (in Spanish) was "are you latin american?" - fantastic, I am blending in well here. He has the most amazing mullet I have ever seen in the flesh which obviously made me instantly like him. We proceeded to have stupidly philosophical and complex conversations with my terrible Spanish, as he asked so many questions about my opinions on things that I would struggle to answer even in English!  After learning all about his thoughts on Latin American culture and how important love peace and dancing are, we headed out for something to eat and a bit of salsa as he donned his double denim outfit thus completing a great look which made him look like he was well and truly off of the 80s.

The next day I took a short walk along the coast line, and found myself hoping that the beaches in the North of Perú would be better than what I found here. The highlight of my day was definitely going to a nice restaurant and getting some ceviche for lunch. This is a fish dish that is very popular in Perú and the one that I had was very tasty indeed. Basically it is very fresh fish which is barely cooked and has been flavoured with lime, chilli and onion, served with corn, potato and salad.

Although my stay in Lima was short and sweet I did not find anything that encouraged me to stay there for longer. I am feeling very much in the need for some good beach time, as well as finding somewhere to stay for a slightly longer time to give myself a rest from the tiresome tasks of packing and bussing every few days; Lima was definitely not the answer to my question of where to do this.

You've been out the country for too long - double denim is making a comeback!!! Scott Mills talks about it a lot!!

Not sure about the mullet though - but it sure looks like a good one :)

Maybe he thought you were latin american because of your mullet ;)

Seriously, is double denim making an actual comback? I can't believe it! I do not have a mullet!!!!!! I think it was more likely he wondered if I was a Latina because I have a huge bum.

Ha ha! Jo-Lo booty!!
Yes double denim is making a come back! It even featured on Gok Wan's show last night which made me smile as I though back to your blog. However he did point out that it had to be 2 different shades of denim in order to work properly!!!!

The fish was gorgeous. Not seen any bears, so definitely not seen any of his family unfortunately. I didn't see any wombles when I was living near Wimbledon either.
