The Larry and Patti Darden Wedding

Oxnard, California, United States
Today is the day of the wedding of Larry Wayne Darden and Patricia Lynn Bergstrom. I'm so happy for these two. I have only met Patti yesterday for the first time at the rehearsal, but find our outgoing and easy to get to know. She and Larry really love each other.

Our morning was easy . It's a bit chilly for California. The temperature is 40 degrees this AM. We watched the Rose Parade on TV...the first time in years. The scenes close to Ambassador College campus brought back lots of memories. The sky is sunny and I really enjoyed watching the parade. It's the first time in 20 years.

Then Bev and I walked the walkway around Ventura Harbor and saw all the hundreds of boats that were slips.

Then on to the wedding. It's about 5 or 6 miles away from the hotel. We pulled into the parking lot and there is Robin and Susie Webber! All the guests gathered at the pier and got their boarding pass for the "Scarlet Bell" where the wedding was to be held. The mood is excited as this is a different kind of wedding..on a boat!

We left shore shortly after 4 pm and the wedding was then going to be at sunset. The cabin upstairs was packed. I got up first to the front and stood for the wedding party to walk down the aisle . Even though water was calm, we still didn't have "sea legs" and swayed. My soles would go up as I would balance myself. The crowd enjoyed seeing all "wobble" up to the front.

Then the ceremony. It was all so joyous and good-natured....

As the sun was finally set the Scarlet Bell continued to cruise the harbor. We all went in for a delicious dinner. Great toasts were given. Even my wife Bev braved to say some nice things about Larry. His sons Scott and Ted gave great tributes to their dad and to their new family. So did Patti's daughter Tammy and another friend.

This was all followed by a dance. The wedding organizer "GJ" did a terrific job in making everything run as smooth as it did.

We got off the boat abouto 8:20 pm. and drove about 1 hour 45 minutes to Anaheim where we will be staying three nights with Mario and Caty Sieglie. Never have been to their home before.
This has been an interesting and fun experience!
