First Full Day in Hong Kong

Hong Kong, China
The weather is ideal. It is sunny, mild, little wind. So different from my last visit here in 1993 when there was a typhoon building and lots of moisture. It's so pleasant to be outside.

In the morning Earl Roemer, Jimmy Wong, Paul Sternberg and I went to a consulting firm to discuss registration for the United Church of God is Hong Kong . We talked to Jenny Wong about the various ways in which a registration could be set up. The office was high up in an office building overlooking Hong Kong harbor. Very interesting discussion ensued.

The the four of us went to the Reconnaissance Hotel for lunch and discussed all this more.

Then went back to the hotel....took a nap and went out get another carry-on suitcase. The one I have is just not enough for the way I'm organized. I was hoping to go all carry on, but the airline is strict about the weight and it has to be checked in anyway. So, I thought of having another small case with wheels to actually carry. I was able to find find one in a luggage shop a few blocks from the hotel. I walked around about two hours. Got lost twice. Everything looks "similar" and it's hard to know which direction you're waking sometimes. I took a picture of the hotel I'm staying in and showed it to the police, finally who directed me back to the City Garden Hotel .

Got back just in time to go out again. Most of the members of the church here in Hong Kong went to Lee Gardens for a dinner. Those present were

Twins Rhio and Rhea Maglasang (Rhea in maroon outfit)
Paul and Rie Sternberg
Steven Arulraj
Dr. Peter Chau
Mary Ong with her children Richard and Sophie
Jimmy Wong
Earl Roemer and myself

We had a fantastic evening of fellowshiping and sharing our lives. We are all so thankful for the common spiritual bond that transcends and binds.

The Hong Kong church does have a website at http://ucghongkong.org/. Please take a look. A lot of the work has been done by Peter Forrester who now lives in Australia. We are wanting to continue the fine work done so far in order to fulfill the mission of the Church here.

The meal was Chinese (of course) with a circular platter that we were all served from. I like this style . It included duck, beef, rice, lamb and on and on. It was a great evening and one to remember for a long time.

Finally back to the hotel and we will waiting for Mary Ong to meet us here for a visit to Quarry Bay School where she works and where we will meet some of her coworkers.

Sure glad you found your way back to the hotel. It is not like you to get lost.

Loved your pictures. I didn't know you could register as a church in China - thought they were all state churches. interesting to see the members there.
