Manaus, State of Amazonas, Brazil
The final countdown for home starts this morning.  First, Jorge wants to show me the location for the 2018 Feast at Eco Park (meaning "Ecology Park").  It’s an environmentally friendly family vacation facility.  It has chalets, rooms and a kind of camping area for residents to stay.  It has big group restaurant, children’s play area, a lake and more. There are a few meeting rooms of various sizes.
It’s about a 35-minute drive from Boa Vista and Jorge got out here at 7:45 am to talk to the manager.  It was really nice and a right environment for the Feast.  It would be a great place for people wanting an international Feast site to come to.  I hope some can come.  The Feast has been held before as well as youth camp.  The kids will love it.
From here we drove to car rental company to see what the damage total to the car would be. We were pleasantly surprised that it was not much.  The mudguard needs to be replaced. The total cost of the repair will be a little over a hundred dollars.  One of the employees took us then to the airport for our flight to Manaus which is a little over an hour.
The view of the big rivers here is spectacular. The White River flows by Boa Vista. It flows into the Amazon and starts in Venezuela. We flew down towards Manaus and I saw the Amazon for the first time.  There are other rivers that flow in.  One is Negro or Black River which is what Manaus is on. It was huge.  Then the Solomon River.  I’m not sure how they figure this is the Amazon, but they do form or are part of the Amazon, one of the longest legendary rivers in the world.  Certainly, all the rivers were wide with huge volumes of water.
When we got to Manaus, we had our taxi driver take us to the printing company that does the printing of the Good News. The name of the company is Grafica Zilo where we met Elizabeth Moraes, account manager who print the Portuguese Good News.  Her position was consultant.  She is a Seventh Day Adventist.  Very nice lady. She took us on a tour of the printing plant. It used modern Heidelberg presses.  They do excellent work.  6000 copies of our magazine are printed there for each issue.  Then they are taken up to Malaca de Moscou where our church takes care of stuffing them into envelopes.
It was interesting driving through Manaus traffic. It’s a city of 1.5 to 2 million people.
We went back to our hotel Ibis where we need to leave at 2:00 am for the airport for our:3:30 am flight to Panama City.   Crazy time to leave, but it will be easy connections in Panama City and Washington D.C.
Jorge and I had dinner at the hotel and tried to get a few hours sleep before waking up at 1:15 am for a 2:00 departure for the airport which is only 5 minutes away.
