Tallinn, Estonia
Today is our last day before we go back to Kiev and then fly to Estonia. On our visits to Ukraine, everything is so intense and we never lack for stimulation and excitement. In the morning I visited Natalya's mother Anna who lives with her granddaughter Anya and her husband Valerie. She is 80 years old and spent her career life as a doctor, I believe a gynecologist. My first visit with her was ten years ago and knowing that I was a minister, she shared what she believed. She is a devout member of a well-known denomination and faithfully attends her church services. She loves to talk to me about prophecy and the rule of Kingdom of God. She has read the literature that I have given to her in Russian. I was excited to give her a copy of lesson one of our United Church of God Bible Study Course in Russian. She immediately picked it up and started reading parts of it back to me and telling me how good it sounded. I look to my visit with her as a highlight of my visiting Chernihiv.

Off to the Centre for the last time on this visit. I wanted to visit some of the rehabilitation sessions and just watch the interaction among patients, mothers and the therapists instead of being toured through and given a quickie tour.

I thoroughly enjoyed sitting through sessions of structured play and aerobic therapy! It was wonderful to see how the therapist handled the children, how the children reacted and how the parents participated. I was able to get lots of photos of children's faces and the hubbub of activity through the sessions. It was good to see equipment donated to the Centre put to use!

Before leaving for the airport in Kiev a number of us sat down for coffee and some final words. It's always so hard to leave. I am so overwhelmed with the work that Dr. Pasechnyk and staff do. I wish so much to do more and provide some amenities for the Centre such as a one-floor elevator and specialty items like another hydro massage unit. I wish I had more that I could do to help this Centre do more to disseminate its hope to others in Ukraine who could try harder. I feel that I have been blessed with the support given me, but wish that I could find more funding sources or could find people who would help finance some of what we've been struggling to do for ten years.

We said good-bye to Dr. P and his wife Natalya. Also, to their daughter Anya and husband Valery. They are so thoughtful as they tell me to specifically tell me to say hello to all the people who have visited the Centre with me notably Tom Peine, Malcolm McClure, Jonathan McClure, Debbie and Katy Shabi, Lydia Bauer and others.

It's a two-hour drive to Kiev Borispol airport. On the way, there are numerous storks nests mostly built on utility poles. We stopped at one that had a family of three awkward funny-looking birds.

Times have changed in Ukraine as we enter the airport parking area. The airport has expanded at least to twice its size in the last two visits. It was hard to find a place to park. Also, it is easier to check in and I feel that I'm not being watched like a foreign intruder as before. We clear everything quickly and board our plane for Tallinn, Estonia where we continue with our work with the United Church of God.

We fly over the unfriendly to US nation of Belarus. We would have a time getting a visa to enter the country but now fly as transit travelers over the country. We arrive in Tallinn 10 minutes early, quickly clear customs and find a large taxi van to take us to bus station. We do GREAT with time as we buy four bus tickets for our 2 hour 15-minute ride to Tartu and the continuation of our exciting journey.

In Tartu, we roll our luggage the block or so to the Pallas Hotell. Being a bit hungry we go to the restaurant and run into Basil and Liza Kopey who just arrived from Moscow. Basil Kopey works at the American Embassy there and will be here for the weekend. We talk until 12:30 am. We really appreciate him coming to give support toe the Estonian Church this weekend.
