Antigua And Barbuda, Antigua, Antigua and Barbuda
we land at Antigue after a beautiful 'entry' - sunny and hot!
There are 366 beaches (they say) here .
We have a tour which includes a visit to a Mrs. MacMillan - scottish, portuguese heritage and
family has been on the Island since 1600? House is absolutely full of STUFF and can't imagine
how they manage during the hurrican season!! She is most welcoming - and has a parrot who speaks Welsh much to Pam's delight!!
Many orchids blooming on her veranda - 130 head of hereford/brahma mix and 100 sheep that look like goats - no wool to be seen!! On to a pineapple plantation and in general touring - Pam is delighted to be able to buy Roni - which is a local medicine supposed to cure just about everything but especially cancer....for about $10 she buys what would cost $80 in BC....a simple lunch which
begins with a very potent RUM punch wow - in this sun andhungry - straight to the head!! -- a few minutes on a lovely beach - the water is cool
The guide (we re only 2) is a nice young fellow who went to Cuba to study Architecture but left his studies when his mum becme ill. There 'seems' to be more social support here - school is free to about grade 12.... english and the local patios.
Back on board I again brave the pool - it remains quite cool.
As the evening show is building to its climax - we hear the fire alarm!! - this poor captain he has
had to deal with a lot!! - nevermind it is nothing but the show ends without the entertainers getting their just applause!!
Pam goes to the jazz show I start a new book - The Book of Fires....
