Tampa, Florida, United States
Sunday - we are up at 5.40 to get off the ship - after breakfast then waiting for US customs and then clearance to leave - really moves along quite smoothly but still does take time!
A beautiful sunny day - we are at the airport and have our car by 9 .30am - drive to the hotel - our room won't be ready until 3.

After much discussion we decide to take a taxi downtown to Ybor City, the Cuban neighborhood and take it from there......we end up at the famous 'Columbia' for lunch - a Spanish/Cuban restaurant really a good choice - Pam's bread pudding dessert looks like a \'loaf of bread' - the waiter warns her its large and I have keylime pie --

Walk around - may place closed on Sunday afternoon. Beautiful warm but breezy day - follow lunch with a short walk and ride on the old fashioned streetcar to downtown - not to far from Plant Museum so we decide to walk there - fascinating old place built as a hotel now part of the U of Miani -- we enjoyed all the 'stuff' replicating the heyday of the hotel -- interesting that the roof is decorated like a minaret - didn't 'mean' anything at the time Mr. Plant just liked the 'look' --

return to the hotel with the same taxi driver (we called him) he is from Havanna been here 12yrs and barely speaks english - says everywhere he has been working the working language is spanish!!

Pam taking a nap me doing my blog - leave sometime tomorrow for St Petersburg......
Hearing about the big storm --- take care, stay warm!!
