Oct 1 - let me start by saying I hope this isn't a duplicate!! still in the land of 'wobbly' internet connections!
We start on our 5hr journey to Tofino - waiting at the door for M and the car -- he alone arrives saying come and
see the car has been vandalized! The window, drivers side back has been broken with something obviously wrapped in a large towel near the car - everything in the car has been ransacked but it seems only the GPS stolen (it was in the glove compartment) -- message - don't lock your car -- the car was in the garage under Pam's condo - the garage is secure entry with a key!!
I call the Police - National Car rental - my insurance -- the 'usual' is, apparently, we go to National trade cares and are on our way - we go to National (very close) they tell us our car is 'special' and we need to go to the parent company (who knew) Enterprise - somewhat further away - we find them they are ready for us and the service is quick and competent .....we get on the wrong road - it happens even without GPS !! - M deals with the
tension by passing everyone in sight - fortunately for me we had stopped at Rogers chocolate factory yesterday and I am enjoying my 'surprise' bag although I really have had enough surprise for one day!

The drive is uneventful - nice day - and this is a beautiful route - the Garden Suite at Seastar is lovely - one large
room with a fireplace nook/kitchenette/bed corner - we both need a ladder to get into the bed -- a lovely private
patio lush with greenery - this is a rain forest - a short walk onto Chesterman's Beach before dinner which is lovely halibut stuffed with crab/cheese - M's fritture is on the menu for a mere $70 each!! - the halibut is $33!!
