Oct 2 - the days starts with a walk on Chestermna's Beach -- this is good!
 
 we complete a tour of Tofino - some changes but, happily, not too many I recognize old stops!
The Common Loaf bakery looks just like it did 20yrs ago and the products are just as healthy and tasty (we are in crunchy granola country) .

Roy Vickers studio is going strong - quite busy and several 'consignment' items over $16,000.
 
Have you noticed when some ingredient becomes 'in' it is difficult to eat 'around' it and for us this
trip-- it is bacon can't tell you how many menus I have read and offer suggestions only to go down the list and find the ever present bacon and it's cousin wine - ! some recipes and some kitchens are open to omissions others not --
 
We shop the local fish stores and buy a small piece of halibut, salmon, and local 'spotted' shrimps
for dinner - 

Friday- another walk on the beach and onto Ucluelet - with a stop at the National Parks Wikinninish Interpretive centre - the master carver in residence speaks French!
Onto Ucluelet which is, mostly, closed for the season - lunch at Black Rock Resort what a great location, feels sur la mare - food is good and view fantastic.....

Dinner at home not nearly as 'gourmet' but we do not go to bed hungry! - sortie for a coffee
at 'the Wolf in the Fog' .also the name of a painting by Roy Vickers.

Saturday another walk on the beach this time in drizzle - the surf boarders are out in force
as are the waves! Breakfast and we check out the Tofino Botanical garden this is a hit - lovely space for coffee -- and good coffee -  off to lunch at Long BeachResort another beautiful hotel the restaurant also 'sur la mare' -- crab for the first time - again searching out and finding the morsels of bacon!!
Lovely to watch the surfers some including family groups with quite young children outfitted in their wetsuits and enthusiasm!
Back to Darwin's Café at the Botanical Garden for coffee - and check out the Saturday Globe/Mail - secret -- visit 5* hotels on Saturday!!

A last visit to the Common Loaf and gas for the trip tomorrow - hoping to make the 3pm ferry!!
