Again a good nights rest, must be these sleeping pills we have been drinking. Up with no rush as we have an extension to noon for boat return. Polly long gone by the time we get up, maybe not wanting any more in depth questions. More of the same by way of beautiful country side but we have two locks to get through, I do the first one with John the next, all good fun but you have to have your serious face on as no slip ups are allowed! We pull up late morning after the locks for another English breakfast fry up outside one of the many old ale houses that are situated on the water. I go off to see what is happening only to be pulled up and told that we are closed for two days as busy doing some renos on the roof, I take the opportunity to suggest that a beer should not be that difficult as as nothing to do with a roof, the reply was that yes I could get a beer but not able to do it until 6.30 pm tonight - it was only 11.00 am. With no ale to be had we return (reluctantly) our narrow boat to the marina and then head back to see if any of the clan that now have John's family home are at home.

John chats to the owner, Andrew Davis and we are all invited in for tea and a history lesson, they are 6 years into transforming the property but the heavy beams have been kept so the character remains . Emails are exchanged for future contact, thank you and then on our way back to home base at Peterley Manor.

Kim and Deb decide to stop off at Stratford on Avon for afternoon tea, Kim's sweet tooth needs attention again. We go for a wander along the River Avon, lots of people around and it seems many school groups. Last week the town celebrated the 450th birthday of the home town boy, William Shakespeare so only fitting we charged our tea cups and did the same.

Next stop off on our scenic road trip was in Banbury. Now we all know the nursery rhyme about the horse that went to Bunbury Cross so with pics taken of the cross and the ride a cock horse to Banbury Cross to see a fine lady with rings on her fingers and bells on her toes she shall have music where ever she goes.

Home to start the packing duties, washing and check the plans for the next leg to Munich. Check the flights and do a balance up with Deb. Also check on the plans for when we return at the end of June. Cassie cooks a fine dinner for us all and the with Europe leg on our mind we head off to bed.
