Deb and Cassie take us to Stansted Airport in the rocket, say our farewells and heartfelt thank you and catch our EasyJet flight to Munich. We were both given a body frisking as the machine said we could have items of interest on us!

Arrived at airport and for the first time we are taken out of our comfort zone as our German is very poor . Well no existent actually. Any way we work out how to get our way into the city centre where John has arranged to meet up with his German friends. Gerda and Alexandria are both very nice, we are staying with Gerda and her family in a place called Flintsbach in Bavaria which is about 1 hour by train south but more on that later. It just so happens that Munich is playing Madrid in the football tonight so there are fans from both sides everywhere so a very good atmosphere especially at the outdoor beer halls.

We have a few drinks which allows John to catch up with all the old times with the girls, he first met them in America over 30 years ago. Alex then takes us on a walking tour of the city centre, again when you are with a person that can tell you all the info plus take you past all the important places makes such a difference plus makes it interesting. We have dinner in a traditional Bavarian restaurant then say goodbye to Alex and catch the train to our new base camp. Arrive late just prior to midnight, Meet up with Berndt, Gerda's husband have a quick chat then hit the sack dead tired.
