A Sunday drive

Castelsardo, Sardinia, Italy
Everyday is a Sunday in this neck of the woods.

Easy morn then packed the red Fiat 500 rocket and headed further upwards from Castelsardo, first stop was at a place called Valledoria, is a busy beach resort but very few around today, went to where the river meets the sea for a wander around . Windy today so only the die hards on the beach. Next on the list further on is a place called Isola Rossa, again would be a busy beach resort in season but not today, mind you just getting down to it takes some doing especially when all the cars are on the wrong side of the road. Had lunch there, two ordered calamari and one ordered mixed fish. Out came three calamari, I gave a look and was told the mixed fish also coming soon. Five minutes later told they had now found that there is no fish - work that one out. M-L on the syrup at lunch again, today she is on the liqueurs with her choice of Limoncello !

Next place Kathy has on the agenda is just down the road, sure. How about make that up and around and down and around and around some more and then on roads from a turn off that one could not swing a cat. The place on the map is marked as one of the top 10 tips in Sardinia so she says that we must be onto something, me just smells trouble. It is called Costa Paradiso and is for those (the words in the guide says) who prefer to stay away from the crowds will find some secluded little bays, but there are also large beaches to enjoy a swim .

All sounds good but, picture this in your minds eye - a couple of Italian property developers sitting around after a long lunch and with plenty of vino under their belt discussing the most outrageous place that they could find, pick up the land for nothing in the middle of nowhere and develop an estate. Then find a whizz kid to sell the sizzle and not the sausage, promote seclusion and rugged and away from the stresses - then we will call it Paradiso. Look at the pics and you will get my drift. Tell them the beaches are small (so small I could not find them) and to get to them you need a days supply and a donkey.

When I have to take off my Mick Fannings and put on socks and walking shoes and a promise of only a 10 minutes or so hike for the beach - seriously folks. Anyway off to the beach, it is called Li Cossi, it's ok but when you hear screams each time a person enters the water. They are from feet on rocks and I think the words M-L used were invigorating and shock as ones breath is taken away, the Don said once you get used to the numbness it's fine. Not for this little black duck. Another sight that I am sure you will appreciate, here we are on a beach where the majority of the women have little to even less than that on. Our two misses wrapping every item of material they can find around them to change so no one will see any of their bits. A true comedy, with what is on display already I could only laugh along with the others. Still a nice day out and about.

Drive hone with a stop off at a rock that they say is shaped like some animal, not sure wha, then dinner with our view and bed, it is tiring this adventure and hiking business.
