A day out on the Amalfi Coast

Ravello, Campania, Italy
After a night in a room with windows all at peace, then down for a breakfast fit for a king and queen. Is Don is good.

We catch the courtesy transport into Amalfi, we are about five minutes on between it and Minori . The girls see dress shops so we leave them to it whilst we check out the lay of the land down at the harbour. I caught a great pic when one of the multi million floating palaces was heading out of the harbour, a lone figure on the top deck at the back of the sucker doing his treadmill exercises, bet when he was out of range he called up the dancing girls and bunga bunga time - check the pic of the wally.

We took the ferry around to Positano which gave great views of the towering mountains and the spectacular houses that sit precariously down the hill side. These Italians, give them a steep slice of land and they will build on it and then with the space remaining grow (in these parts) lemons and grapes. Have to admire the work ethic and general attitude.

Positano- don't bother knockin cause the place is a rockin. This is where the rich and famous have to mix with me and many other like minded adventurers. Also, today, throw in a boat load of the smartest people going round, just listen to them . We wander and wander, generally up and up some more than down and down a little further.

I have wanted to purchase a piece of ceramic hand painted art depicting the area as they are reasonably well know for it. Plenty of mass produced stuff that is all the same out of China but wanted the real deal. Found a place with some fantastic items and unbelievable ceramic outdoor tables as well but naturally with a price tag along similar lines. Anyway things are going swimmingly with the accountant so we all decide to have a Nike moment. After much deliberation both the Vella's and Lucas's settle on a design and colour palette, their local artist will undertake and all going well we will have it in a few months. We decide that it is to go to our eldest daughter Chloe since she has such an affinity for the area once we depart and then in turn her eldest daughter and so on.

We lunch beachside, M-L fascinated by the beach goers all sun baking on small pebbles. Also have a gelato, we are very particular with this ice and now only partake from artisan makers! Back on the ferry to do it all in reverse. Same great view, same great ferry trip. From Amalfi we take our life into the taxi drivers hands but seem to miss most things oncoming and make it back in time for pool and Pieras. Dinner same same, settling into this type of lifestyle. Yes it is a very hectic area but this seems to work with a heady mix of locals and the visiting public all co-mingling so seems win win.
