Notio Aigaio, Egeo, Greece
Up earlier than the chooks, 15 minute walk to the ferry terminal, purchase the tickets on the SeaCat 2 so Greek Island bound we venture. Board then take up the sleeping position for the trip, being on one of these fast ferries is similar to an aeroplane only with a tad more room. The boat is all but full, first stop is heaven on a stick, sorry I mean Sifnos - our go to Island but most people on the vessel thankfully are taking the soft option and heading to the big daddy which suits up just fine. We have three days on Sifnos, more specifically the beach village of Kamares and then head to the same place as all the others, Santorini.

At just a tad over two hours we are on the dry side by 9 .10 am. We wander along the harbour side which is also the village side and also the beach side. We all love the place in an instant. We have reached a destination that I have wanted to be at since way back when - the feeling for a simple country boy on a Greek Island is one of reasonable completeness - see I really am not that hard to please.

Should we stay right on the sand or back Donny says 300 metres, I say it's 350 metres, elevated at just the right height with the much desired swimming pool, the pool it is, so we march onward. We arrive to our white square box of choice called Hotel Xerolithia. The place is almost brand new, we haggle in a friendly manner which room location is best, the others let me play a forward role as they know that the position and correct angle to the most appropriate village location markers reigns king with me. Spot spotted and then sorted, we next negotiate price for the mornings breakfast as we are here in what we call the bonus hours - arrival at a new destination at sparra fart . We have breakfast with all the other guests as they partake in the breaking of the fast between 9.00 - 10.00 am in these parts. So the early bird does indeed catch the worm!

Stomachs satiated we forward march as crystal clear waters beckon within the horseshoe style amphitheatre that is our small port village of Kamares, our new home base for the next three days. Go on be bold and check it out and enjoy the ride as well - it's yours for the taking you just have to do.

Decisions decisions, should we pay 2.50 euro for the sun lounges with the plebes or should we sit on the "free" ones on the beach outside the Old Captains Bar? Derrrr. Some time later we depart after bronzing the body beautiful and dipping into the H2O. No doubt this is the time to mention that the sun lounges ended up costing us just on 60 euro! It tends to add up when our female friends stat ordering cocktails and saying to the owners, you surprise us - they are thinking we'll surprise you alright! Maybe a few Pieras helped as well.

Gyros for lunch at 3 bells, at just 2.20 euro the best value and tastiest light lunch going round. Easily the best souva style feed I have ever had. Sure beats the ones you have had at 2.00 am after 47 beers! Think a few more of these will hit the spot before when. Back to Xerolithia and settle in. Pool side until the skin starts to wrinkle, someone asks what today is, we answer Holiday, tomorrow is therefore Holiday which then makes the following day Holiday, come to think of it everyday is called Holiday. Dinner and bed after a wander around the village. All fine in this neck of the woods.
