Some of us head for the hills, just Kathy and I as the Don a tad worse for wear. He is fine and just saving himself for the heats of the butterfly later on this afternoon. The aim is to take the hogs up to be kings of the mountain. There are two monk houses atop, one has a road right the way to the front door, the other still has about 500 metres of steps with donkey still doing all the donkey work.

The road is very good for 95% with just the last part a real stretch for the 50ccs as very steep but no stopping us . Sort of a creepy place as it seems no one home, we look in some windows and all the signs of someone home as small candles are lit within a room that seems to be some form of church / praying area. The outside areas all open so we wander around, said to Kathy a little disappointing that they do not have the kettle on for us since we have come all this way. Great PO's at this height. We avail ourselves in said task.

It is such a hard way to live, in one instance you have all the mod cons down at sea level and then in another go ten minutes up the road with the way of life and the challenges faced changing so significantly so quickly, goats roam freely in these parts, dogs have kennels in the middle of nowhere assumedly to keep sentry duty. The only thing that grows freely up in these parts is rock, it requires little water and practically no maintenance as well. If you think water is a precious resource in Australia come into these parts. They get no rain at all from April through September.

We squeeze a little more time in with the hogs roaring around some of the outer lying parts of our village area, the hire place could not care anyway if we were some hours late in returning. Each cost 10 euro, put some fuel in if you run low, if no licence no matter and when we did return, the Dons with a little more character than at the start, you just park and wave. The Greek way of life creates little stress, take heed everyone. If it doesn't work out today it will at some stage.
