Locksperts for hire

Harskirchen, Alsace, France
Started our trek back to where we started late morning, the Don pinched a bike from the hire place before they opened to go up to the store for some breakfast supplies.

A pleasant day spent on board cruising but it was a long one being eight hours on the water . We all assumed a role as the 17 locks become same same, this is not to say that we were uninterested but a hard boat to paddle with our rise in canal elevation being approximately 17 x 3 metres = 50 metres.

We have limited supplies left so decide to pull up at a place where we know there is a restaurant plus a Boulanger in the morning for goddies to kick start the day. Berthed the boat only to be told that we could not stay in that particular spot, only problem was that we could not start the motor to shift and with the on-site staff departing it currently stays as is. We will see what the morning brings.

Send M-L off as the forward scouting party, the restaurant just up the hill and around the corner, she arrives back with the news - closed. There is another sign at this marina for a restaurant and they come and pick you up so we decide this option will do - closed. Today is a Tuesday and they are all closed Monday and Tuesday. They girls whip up a good scraps dinner then some of M-L's prized Swiss chocolate with cranberries and a cuppa - no worries here.

Early to bed as we are resting up, another night on the water then it will be all go for the last two weeks in Paris and London. Sorry for a boring blog but the water slows everything down, it was also very hot in the low 30's which also has an effect on my finger tapping.
