Tour Down Under and the beach

Adelaide, South Australia, Australia
This morning was cooler around 24 degrees, Chris and Karen took Nick horseriding at 9.30 and Paul, Dan and I biked towards Goowla, the boys did much better than me I gave up about a third of the way and waited for them. Dan did really well especially as his bike doesn’t have gears and they actually made it to Goowla.

When everyone was back we decided to go to Port Lincoln to have a normal Aussie lunch of pies, the pie shop there was recommended by Bobbie’s friends yesterday but there was way too long a queue plus nowhere to park so we came back to Middleton Bakery the pies here were just
lovely as well . Then it was off to find a good viewing point to watch the Tour Down Under Stage3 Glenelg to Victor Harbour. Going to Victor Harbour would have been a no no it would have been packed and parking impossible, so Chris had a plan which worked well. We headed for a Urimbirra Wildlife park on the roundabout on the outskirts of the town where we could see them pass 4 times and it worked perfectly we got there just before the main riders came through, and it wasn’t too crowded. Nick got to sit in the Police car which was posted there, and we tried
to get Paul arrested but the Officer couldn’t help, but he did put him in the car. By the end of the race the sun was out and the temperature had gone up to 30+ so it was a quick bit of shopping and back to the house.

Just across the road is a lovely beach not any good for swimming as it’s shallow and has big breakers but it’s perfect for the boy’s body surfing and they both had a great time. Chris however decided he’s put on way too much weight as he managed to break his board in half. Spent around an hour having fun in the sun before coming back. This house has a heated shower
outside so we can get rid of all the sand before coming in, a bonus. The beach is amazing sand for as far as you can see and hardly anyone on it.

Tonight Chris and Karen have gone out for an Oyster meal in Goowla, the boys are watching Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and Bobbie and I are on our computers. I’m catching up with my blog and Bobbies playing her game.

You mean Paul hasn't actually already been arrested yet anyway?

Not quite the Col du Tourmalet perhaps but watching cycling while munching pies sounds a very agreeable combination.
