Homeward to Adelaide

Adelaide, South Australia, Australia
The journey back to Elizabeth begins, we amazed ourselves this morning we had to be out of the house by 10.30am but we were all up well before 8am and showered, dressed, packed and had breakfast before 9 that just left the cars to be packed. Chris had a lot more to do than us with all the boys toys and the 4 bikes but we helped each other and had the key back at the agents by 10 oclock. Nick and Dan wanted to do some fishing so we all went down onto the wharf at Goowla and while they fished we had lovely relaxing coffee and a naughty cake in The Waterfront café before starting our roadtrip home. Unfortunately they boys didn’t catch anything for tea but they did try.

From here we headed to Strathalbyn to find a mosaic workshop which was fascinating maybe another craft skill to be learned, it took some finding as they had changed their name but thanks to Chris’s trusty phone app we got there . This is an amazing place. Then it was on to find The Prancing Pony Brewery (yes you guessed it a tasting session) plus lunch, it didn’t take too much finding but it seemed strange to find it on what appeared to be a shopping centre. It was very different tasting session than at the wineries, here for $15 you get 6 small glasses of the various beers they produce, but as they produce 10 we had to have two trays. This would be good for The Brentwood Brewery to do will have to speak to Roland about it. I don’t normally like beer but there were a few I liked. I hate to think what this is doing to my weight my Australian cousins are doing me no favours, that said I could say NO, but we did share the glasses between 5 of us. Lunch was chips for the boys, and two platters for us one cheese and one dip which we all enjoyed.

After lunch we went our separate way’s, us heading for Salisbury Park stopping on route in Harndorf for an afternoon coffee and another cake, naughty but nice, and at One Tree HIll to post the cards to Emma and Raiff and to buy some bread and milk. Finally by 4.30 we were home and back to chores of washing.

The drive back took a bit longer than expected as the road we wanted to take was closed and there were no warning of this till we actually got to it so then it was a long detour but we got there eventually.

Driving back through the Adelaide Hills we had heavy rain and showers on and off all the way back from the brewery, the weather here is about 26 degrees but very humid, first thing was to open the windows and put on the aircon fan to cool the house down.
Not sure how we will sleep tonight it’s still very muggy still the wet weather is supposed to pass overnight let’s hope so.
