Adelaide, South Australia, Australia

We had another lazy breakfast after I finished my book with Nick then it was off to Blackwood shopping to get in the supplies for tomorrow Australia Day lunch . Never been to and Australia Day party before so this will be exciting.

After lunch at the house we headed off to Waterfall Gully for a walk to the falls as South Australia are experiencing one off there wettest summers for a long while so there will be plenty of water flowing.

When we arrived we noticed that several of the trail were in fact closed due to damage sustained from recent storms including The Café which was a shame as we were hoping to have a coffee here after our walk. We did manage to get to two of the six beautiful falls but after taking some advice from walkers coming down there was no point climbing any higher as the falls were not as impressive. The scenery however was beautiful and we all enjoyed the walk we did but it was quite steep in several places. Nick and Dan had a stick throwing contest at the lowest waterfall which Nick won.

Once we got back to the car we refreshed out water bottle and eat out delicious chocolate, peanut bars which we bought on our shopping trip this morning . We then decided to go on to Mount Lofty for our coffee and a lot smaller walk as it was such a lovely sunny day, and the last few times we’ve been to this mountain we’ve never been lucky with the weather. Today however was much better and we had a good view of the city of Adelaide from the top, to top it all off we even saw a wild Koala sitting peacefully in a tree not at all bothered by all the attention from the tourists.
On our way back down towards Blackwood we stopped at the prestigious Mount Lofty Hotel for a nice look inside and to see the fantastic views of the valleys from their gardens. This is one of the most expensive hotels in the area so don’t think we will be staying there anytime soon.

Got back to the house at 6pm and Karen started preparing us a lovely Thia Green Curry for dinner which we all enjoyed, but the boys did find it a bit too spicy.

Now we are relaxing watching the tennis with a few glasses of wine in preparation for tomorrows Australia Day Celelbrations.
