Another scorcher 43 today.

Adelaide, South Australia, Australia
Today was an easy day as we are taking Bobbie up to Gawlerto meet up with some friends who live in a Retirement Village there for lunch. The day started well, after breakfast and Paul and I went for an early walk inthe Reserve across the road before coming back for a shower and to get ready for our trip.We were hoping to see some of the lovely coloured birds you get
here but didn’t see any, in fact hardly any wildlife at all . At 9.30 the temperature was already well into the high 30’s but we will be in an air conditioned car and restaurant so shouldn’t be too bad.

First stop was at the garage to fill up with petrol but things went downhill from here, I thought I was being clever by putting my credit card into the ‘Pay at the Pump’ machine but unlike in the UK you have to enter the amount of petrol you want to have. As we’ve got no idea how much we need I tried to cancel the entry which then locked up the machine totally and at one point it wouldn’t give me back my card but finally we did manage it. So I went inside to get some help and promptly dropped my credit card along with my list of Contact names which I used to remember my PIN numbers not that it would be any use to anyone else but it was annoying when I couldn’t see it anywhere. The ladies on the desk suggested Paul move to another pump which he did but this one was running so slow he gave up after putting in $24 worth . Luckily the machine inside accepted my card without me having to use my PIN number or sign for the transaction. Aghhh

Eventually we got to the restaurant over 20 minutes late but Keith, Pat and Ina were still waiting for us. We all decided to order from the Lunch Menu as they are said to be smaller but it didn’t seem like it to us, Bobbie and I had Chicken and we ended up bringing half of it home. By now it was 43 plus degrees so the aircon was on full blast.

After lunch Pat and Keith invited us back to their home on the Retirement Village which was just lovely we could easily have lived there. They have a two bedroom home with a little garden and a nice size lounge and dining area. After they took us over to the centre where they have a beautiful swimming pool, games room, restaurant area and we met 4 guys in the main hall
racing their radio controlled cars. They tried hard to sell the idea to Bobbie but somehow I don’t think they succeeded . We left there around 5pm and headed back to Salisbury stopping at the same garage (at the end of the road) to finish filling up the car, this went better this time but we did notice the pump that gave us all the problems this morning was now ‘Out of Order’  What had we done?

Anyway I went inside to pay this time and asked the guy behind the desk if anyone had handed in my card with a list of names on it and Yeah they’d found it, how lucky for me, but that’s where my luck ended as getting out the car I realise I’ve left my hat at Pat and Keith’s Oh well 'No Worries' as the Ozzie’s say they can return it to Bobbie and it can stay here, and I can always buy another one tomorrow depending on what we decide to do. The temperature is supposed to drop to 39 tomorrow so should be a bit better.

Once back home we sat in the garden and did see some Rosella’s and little Green Parrots but that was it. Now sitting indoors with aircon and fans on but at 8.30pm it’s finally cooling down a bit.
