Not quite so hot today only 39 degrees

Adelaide, South Australia, Australia

The countdown to our return to UK has begun just a few more days left and we will be going from 38 to 40 degrees down to around 6 in London and possibly snow .

Today our plan was to first go back to Gawler and collect my hat then go on to one of the beaches between there and Port Wakefield, but it wasn’t such a good idea as we thought. Looking at the map there were several beaches on the route   so we decided to head for Middle Beach which showed a campsite so sounded a good prospect but after turning off the A1 (Port
Wakefield Highway) the road turned into an unsealed road so gave that up. We remember only too well being told on a previous trip not to drive on unsealed roads but we didn’t listen and ended up with a puncture, not a scenario we want to repeat, so on we went through Dublin to another beach which appeared to have a solid road down to the beach at Port Parham Webb but disappointment again. Yes, there was a road to the end but no sandy beach and the tide was way out. By now it was way past lunchtime so we decided to head back to Dublin and see
what was there in order to get a snack. Well it was a far cry from Dublin City here there were only two places of interest, a Bakery and a Hotel . We plumped for the Hotel and had lunch, nothing fantastic but it was food.

On the way back to Gawler we went through what sounded like a small town of Two Wells but wrong again, we should have motored on to here as it turned out to be a lot bigger than Dublin, typical.

After the morning of disappointments we decided to head back to Gawler and do what all good Ozzie’s seem to do go wine tasting in the Barossa. Our next stop was the Bakery at Lyndoch one of my favourite places, we’ve called in twice for afternoon coffee over the last few weeks only to be too late for the café but yeah today we made it. Lyndoch is another German town so what cake should I have, it has to be a Black Forest Slice. Yummy

Then it was off to the 1847 Yaldara Winery (which was part of McGuigan’s ) but it had now been sold back to the original owner and they now trade under the old name but don’t export. I tried a couple and loved the first sparkling wine so bought a bottle for Sunday out last day with Bobbie, Chris, Karen and the boys .

It was still hot so we decided to head back to Salisbury Park, still it’s always cool in the car with the aircon on full.

Safely back it was time for me to start getting somethings back in the case as tomorrow we will be out most of the day and Sunday Chris, Karen and the boys are coming over for the day. It’s funny before we left we couldn’t get into the packing game and now it’s the same , but that said I can’t wait to get back as see my two little treasures Emma and Raiff. I’ve spoken to them on Skype but like so many people say it’s not the same as getting a cuddle. No kisses from Raiff of course but hey he’s a boy.

We've been to many places like Dublin, this year I think Brighton was the worst, I shabby cafe and the wind blowing a gale. It's all part of the joy of travelling in Oz or NZ

A nice warm end to your trip. Don't worry: it shouldn't be too much of a shock coming home - next week it's going to be almost three times as hot here as it is today, 10 celsius no less! Hope you have lots of fun in the time remaining - and I'm sure your treasures will have enjoyed your blog as much as we have.
