Adelaide, South Australia, Australia

It will be our last weekend with the family so this afternoon we are off South of the City to Morphett Vale for an afternoon and evening with Karen and David . In our past trips it’s always been difficult to catch up with Karen but this year we’ve made it. She and her new partner made us very welcome and we had a really nice few hours with them, a shame it’s right at the end of our holiday but when they’re both at work all week it’s never easy.

We had been invited to an engagement part in the park by the son of Bobbie’s neighbours but having looked at the park (which was the other side of the City to Morphett Vale) and discovered that there was very little parking or shade we decided to give it a miss especially as the temperatures at this point were still way up in the 30’s. However by the afternoon it was down to the late 20’s and apparently they did get a love breeze but hey can’t do it all.

Before heading south we went back to the little Café at Cuddlee Creek and I bought myself another hat let’s hope we get a great summer in the UK so I get to wear it, if not it will be good for our next river cruise in July or is it June . From here it was a long winding drive up and down the Adelaide Hills through places even Bobbie had never heard of by Miss Satnav seemed to know where she was going and eventually found us the way back onto the Expressway. As we had a few minutes to spare we headed down to Christie’s Beach for a coffee but it true Ozzie fashion the shop we choose had already turned off their coffee machine at 2.30 when they didn’t shut till 4pm and didn’t even have hot water for tea, so gave that a miss and went next door. RESULT not only did they have all their machines working they also had FREE
Wifi. Hopefully if we do come again in a couple of years there internet connection may be better. As we enjoyed our coffee the wind go up and blew the parasol crashing to the floor good job it fell away from us or it could have been nasty, but we all survived including the dog.

After a very pleasant meal we set off home in the dark, the first time we’ve driven a long distance in the evening but we made it without any problems.

The weather now has changed to winter with daytime temperatures forecast as low as 24 still we will be acclimatizing slowly to UK temperatures a long way off freezing but cold compared to the 38 to 40’s we’ve been having.
