Cuenca, Ecuador
Spent a couple of days exploring Cuenca, a city of narrow cobblestone streets and whitewashed red-tiled buildings. Beautiful setting above the grassy banks of Rio Tomebamba.

Went for a sunny morning walk along the river, along a lane lined with colonial buildings . Also climbed the new cathedral on the main square for a good view over the city. In the evening, went to La Compania brewery pub for some strong Ecuadorian ales!

The highlight of our stay was a day trip out to the most important Inca site in Ecuador, Ingapirca. Built towards the end of the 15th century during the Inca expansion into present-day Ecuador.

Onward bus journey to Mancora, Peru via Huaquillas (5 hours) Taxi to immigration followed by another taxi to the border town of Tumbes and then a collectivo through to Mancora...
