Day 12 Pit stop in Nassau

Naussau, New Providence, Bahamas
We see land! It's 8 am and we see land for the first time in 7 days. The reason we’re in the Bahamas is a sad one, and after only a few minutes we have to chug on to Miami, but it’s a nice change to see land, a city, resorts, even birds and airplanes overhead.

We lined up along the starboard side to watch the patient being evacuated from the ship . They moved very slowly because the danger was the bone could sever an artery. It took about forty minutes to get her into an ambulance. Then the ambulance just sat there as the ship pulled away. It felt strange to just leave her but finally as we rounded out of the bay, the ambulance started to move.

We went on our way past a lighthouse, resort beaches, beautiful scenery, waves crashing against walls. Now that the critically injured passenger is ashore,we’ve slowed from 22 to 12 knots to Miami. This is the first day we see land in the distance as we sail: the Berry Islands on the port side horizon. No more rocking and rolling. We’re in the Caribbean, where it’s just relax and cruise.

It was a peaceful day walking the decks in the sunshine, standing on my favorite deck—13 aft—watching the water. Barely any pitching or rolling—we’re just gliding along in the water.

We had dinner in the Asian restaurant followed by drinks, singing, and dancing in the piano bar. One of the guest performers was singing for us when a British woman whispered to him about Leonard Cohen, who was one of his personal heroes. The pianist and singer gave us an impromptu but inspired personal rendition of "Hallelujah". Everyone joined in. To finish the evening, a burly sixty-year old Scotsman in a kilt led a celebratory line of dancers all around the 6th deck where the bars are located. Life continues.

We came in first again today in Progressive Trivia. The Froggies are getting famous, maybe infamous.
