Travel Day

We continued traveling north on US Rt . 95; stopping in the town of Fallon to visit the "Grimes Point Archaeological Site". This is a site where ancient petroglyphs, rock art, were etched into boulders, some dating back 6,000 years; that are scattered over a wide area. At most sites the pictures or art work was done on a cliff face or huge boulders, but at this site the pictures are etched on small boulders, all of which were less than 3 foot high. It has been theorized that this art work was done while hunters were waiting for their prey to come down to a large lake that covered most of the area. We then traveled west on US Rt. 50 to “Carson City” and headed for the casino across the street for dinner and some time playing the slots.
