Camotes Islands, Visayas, Philippines
The following is a early news report of the damage on the Camotes Island. This afternoon we are going over with our CHE Coordinator Dr Rhodora and colleague Dr Bill. Apparently 2 hr ferry ride over. They are delivering relief supplies and we will all be assessing how CHE can be applied for the restoration phase now. Will on Friday start our survey trip by various ferry trips to the harder hit areas.

"The Camotes group of islands was among those badly hit by the typhoon being near the path of Yolanda’s eyewall . From Leyte, Yolanda moved to Cebu’s northern tip, missing Camotes by several kilometers. Of the four Camotes towns, Pilar, which is near Ormoc City, got a harsher lashing from the typhoon’s 235 kilometers per hour sustained wind speed."

"Initial reports said that a big percentage of the structures in the four towns of Camotes were damaged. So too the cell sites and some of the sea vessels. That meant the islands were isolated after Yolanda struck as communication and transportation lines were cut off. Electricity posts were toppled, also cutting off power."
