Camotes Islands, Visayas, Philippines
Loaded on a bus with relief supplies that our CHE people here had designated to Atipo village on the island of Comates. Traveled in a packed bus for about 1 1/2 hrs to the port with the roof of the bus packed with rice and other supplies for the damaged church community of Atipo. At the port transferred with the bus on a ferry to travel 2 hrs across to Comates. Slow relaxing cruise! Got their after dark and came back the next morning leaving at 4 AM

This is a church that started about 10 years ago as a result of the CHE program . The people survived the super typhoon by holding out in the church building. Some of the roof flew off as they huddled there as the rain came in through the places that the wind ripped the roof off.

Very resilient people praising good for their protection. Great to be with them and hear their stories. They are a community that we will use as a Beta site testing our integrated Disaster Preparedness and Mitigation CHE program (DPM/CHE). We are in the process of creating this new CHE model and promoting it here in this disaster prone country of The Philippines.
