Amritsar, Punjab, India
Hello Again!

After many hours of travel, and three trains, we finally arrived in Amritsar at midnight, ready to settle in at the Golden Temple . The team was able to settle into our one bedroom and one bathroom accommodation within the temple complex. Most of us slept on the floor, and a few of us got beds, and we were finally able to get some much needed rest.

Early the next morning we ventured out only to find that life in Amritsar starts a little later than we thought. After some street paranthas and chai we made our way to Jallianwala Bagh. Here we walked around and explored the site of the 1919 massacre of Indian citizens by the British. From there we walked to the beautiful Golden Temple where we witnessed Sikhs and tourists alike taking in this incredible site. Many were bathing in the waters of the Pool of Nectar while others sat and prayed inside the golden masterpiece. After another delicious Indian lunch the team met up to head to the India – Pakistan border ceremony. Crammed into one jeep the 12 of us traveled 45 minutes to witness this unique event. Resembling a pep rally, the ceremony included dancing, chanting and marching on both sides of the gate.

Our stay in Amritsar, though brief, was packed with some amazing sites and experiences that we will never forget!
