Day 1

Bangkok, Thailand
We have arrived. Bustling Bangkok is humid, friendly, and full of color. No one has dared to miss a meal with the sight of noodles, curries, and satay cooking on most street blocks. On our first day, the group took the water taxi down the Chaophraya River to the Grand Palace. This grand complex showed us the spectacular Thai temple architectural style at its finest. The dramatic curved roof edges and gold shine put these unique temples in a league of their own. The Emerald Buddha of green jade and the reclining Buddha of Wat Pho competed for our vote of coolest Buddha statue.  You never know what to expect in the buckets at the market- catfish, eels, frogs, and snails have already been spotted. The best part is refreshing your senses with the fresh smell of jasmine. Tomorrow we'll check out the national museum and head to Chiang Mai on a night train. We're happy to be on Thailand time.
