Could It Be The Hindi That Has Gotten In Me?

Udaipur, Rajasthan, India
Udaipur:

It all started out with the overnight train ride from Jaipur ........a bit of a rough ride for most of us.............but everything changed once we got to our hotel, across from the Gulab Baag, the biggest garden in all of Udaipur. We had a wonderful breakfast that consisted of omelets, bananas and chai.

My personal favorite part of Udaipur was our dinner after exploring the city, and the camel rides.
We had a fantastic dinner at the Mewar Haweii in Old Town Udaipur. We sat on the rooftop overlooking a man made lake, and the most expensive hotel in India. The hotel sits in the middle of the lake.

After dinner Christy, Katherine, Giovanni and I got into what we thought was a normal rickshaw. We were HIGHLY mistaken. This rickshaw happened to be unlike any other. It was set up with a high powered music system and the coolest driver in India. Once we were all crammed in he took off playing Eminem at HIGH volume. As we swerved though the tight streets of Old Town our driver sang every word . I don't think there was a silent moment during this ride, it was all singing, laughing, and Momma C (Christy) filming it all. Once we arrived we got out, took pictures with our driver, and woke up the whole city with our music.

Jhadol:

CHAI is our saving grace!

In Jhadol we did a home stay, taught children English, did masala (cement) construction work, and drank chai.

I did my home stay with Patrick, and I think it went really well, even though we did not understand a single word that was spoken.

We had an adorable family; a daughter, two sons, our mother, one armed father, and Grandma.

Teaching at the school was such a fun experience. Although it was harder than most of us thought it was going to be, I think we did well. Everyone made good connections with kids in our class, whether it was in the classroom or on the "playground" playing cabadi.

Overall this past week and a half has been incredible.  We have learned so much, and met so many wonderful people!
