Same routine today, up around 6:00am,
pack up, breakfast, and then start hiking.
Today is a short day but back up all the way to 4600m (15,000ft).
Another clear morning with views of Moshi, Meru and the mountain above.
The clouds rolled up the slopes and it
started hailing lightly about 20 min. before reached the next camp, then a
“wintery mix” as the Midwest weathermen call it. Hot beverages, then lunch, then nap
time. Dinner at 5:00pm tonight, then nap
again until our wakeup call at 10:45pm to get ready for our alpine start to the
summit tonight. Rain is coming down
pretty good now so my main concern is keeping everything dry. Our group appears to be doing fairly
well. Steve seems a bit exhausted but is
the type to not admit it and just power through. He skipped lunch to rest. Ursula is fighting off a headache. Everyone else seems solid. No headaches for me and I feel good! I’m still a bit anxious about tomorrow though,
but hey, if anyone else can do it, I can too!
Tomorrow is summit day!
