I’ve made it a point to visit a brewery every time I come to see Deb (not sure why I didn’t think of that sooner!). Last time we toured the Huyghe Brewery where Delirium Tremens is brewed. This trip, Alain took us to Brouwerij het Anker where they make Gouden Carolus, one of Belgium's best strong brown ales. They’ve been brewing beer on this spot since the 1400’s! It started as a hospital with the nuns brewing beer as a way to purify the water.
After, we toured around the town of Machelen and I climbed the tower of the local Cathedral for some amazing views of the town – which looked like a village from a model train set from that vantage.
