After sleeping for about 11 hours last night I woke up at 8.30 and thought it was about time to be awake now and put the kettle on. Our job is a gas hob and we have no appliances so we have to wait for it to start steaming ro know it’s ready.
We then made eggs and toast then had showers in the compact but very nice bathroom.
At 10am depart Trevor to Llangollen,
We passed through very narrow waterways which at 2 stretches one of 300m and the other 500m only 1 boat was allowed in a direction as it’s wasn’t wide enough to pass. We also went under plenty of stone bridges To Llangollen, met a few boats
Picked blackberries from the brambles at the edge. Hanny was steering the boat and showed off her skills whilst I 'supervised'!!
We arrived in Llangollen at about 12.45. It was quite busy and there were tourist boats for day trips on the canal, as well as horse drawn boats. We found the marina and parked up, filling up our water tanks then spun the boat round 180 degrees to point outward. The sun is shining and 18 degrees. Not too bad but perhaps no shorts today.
We set off from the marina round to the tea room and general kerfuffle of tourists. We paid to moor at the marina, only £6 for a night then walked down the hill toward the town. Lunch was booked at 1.45 by Hanny at The Corn Mill, an old mill next to the river with a huge water wheel on the water side (not a working one) and with an outside seating area looking over the river. We had an absolutely delicious lunch and relax whilst enjoying the view. Whilst looking around we noticed a hill with ruins on top and looked into how long it might take to go up there. Astonishingly 25mins so George decided to venture up whilst we returned to put our parking ticket on show in the boat. Then back into town where we indulged in a hot donut and buying some fudge and a fridge magnet! Classic holiday purchases! George meanwhile had reached the top so we awaited her return. We browsed the shops and enjoyed the sun, it was a busy day and felt just normal again.
George returned from her walk and we all went back to the boat. We drank wine sitting in the front outside area until it was too cold to sit out. Full from lunch we didn’t need dinner and just ate a bit of chocolate and watched a film on the iPad since we couldn’t pick up any tv reception on the tv.
Temperatures 19 - 9 C
Best: enjoying a bit of sun in the town over lunch
Worst: if I had to pick something, no tv reception??
Beautiful: coming down the Llangollen canals and also the view from the bridge/pub
