First time Diving and a sick Han

Ko Phi Phi Don, Thailand
22:31 6.30am was when the alarm went off, we have to meet at 730 at the dive shop to crack on with the day.
Onto the boat then and away we go .
The first dive I went with another group whilst Han and a couple of others learnt the dive skills. We went to Bida Nok and saw a lot of pretty coral and fish, the highlights being a turtle and a leopard shark which was just lying on the side of the coral wall. Amazing! I'm so glad I now have an underwater camera case!
Between dives we had lunch which was about 1030 in fact! They had forgotten about adding me to the list so although Han had her pad thai, the instructor offered me her chicken and rice. Being the sweetie she is, Han gave me her Pad Thai as she knows I like it and ate the chicken and rice. Whilst we ate the boat pulled into the mouth of Maya bay - where the Beach was filmed and there were speed boats whizzing in and out constantly. On looking towards the shore the beach was lined with a fleet of large, 3 engined speedboats, no longer the pretty longtail boats that make for a good photo. Just boat loads of tourists on day trips from krabi/Ao nang/phi phi. A clear case of over tourism ruining what was once a very pretty beach .
After lunch we went diving again but this time I went with Han and the others at Palong. We were hoping to see black tipped sharks but after swimming around for 50mins we didn't see much and the visibility wasn't fantastic, but still all good.
After we surfaced Han mentioned feeling sick, we thought perhaps eating a lot before the second dive might have done this, or the sensations of a new experience.
When we got back to the dive shop about 1pm she was sick :( we went back to the hotel and she lay down but was sick another 6/7 times through the course of the day and even in the middle of the night. It didn't take long to decide this was food poisoning. Sadly she couldn't keep anything down, not even water. Poor love dozed all afternoon and slept well all night. It was a quiet uneventful evening where I just updated the blog and photos with a slice of takeaway pizza.
Han also decided not to complete the open water course, she enjoyed it but not enough to finish it. I will remain a solo diver then I guess.
Best: seeing a leopard shark
Worst: sick Han
Beautiful: everything under the water.
